MIT Study Finds Wave Patterns Rippling Across A Fertilized Egg

Updated on

Researchers at MIT came across a surprising finding when studying how organisms grow.

Scientists have uncovered a surprising wave pattern rippling across a newly fertilized starfish egg.

The findings, which were published in the journal Nature Physics, seem to be similar wave patterns in other systems found in nature, such as: (1)

  • ocean waves
  • atmospheric system waves
  • the heart’s electrical signals
  • quantum systems

“When an egg cell of almost any sexual reproducing species is fertilized, it sets off a series of waves that ripple across the egg’s surface.” (2)

According to the researchers, the waves are created by billions of activated proteins traveling across the egg’s membrane, which signal it to start the cell division process.

The study involved starfish eggs because they’re bigger and, therefore, better options for more detailed observation and visuals.

Also, starfish eggs are regarded by scientists as being representative of many other species’ eggs.

With each egg the researchers studied, a noteworthy pattern began to emerge – it all began with a single spiral that then multiplied into various spirals dancing across the egg’s surface.

These wave patterns are essential to the cell’s division process.

According to physicist, MIT professor, and study co-author Nikta Fakhri:

“The egg is a huge cell, and these proteins have to work together to find its center so that the cell knows where to divide and fold, many times over, to form an organism.”

What Does This Mean For You If You’re Trying To Conceive Or Are Pregnant?

If you’re trying to conceive or are pregnant, this is a powerful real-life visual of the energy and innate intelligence within your body and your cells.

This is a reminder that your body and precious eggs know what to do. Trust in the intelligence of your body and the wisdom of your inner guidance, and know that all is well and happening at the right time.

If you’re struggling to conceive, keep imagining the visual of your fertilized egg emanating these waves as it grows, divides, and evolves.

Try these affirmations:

I believe in my eggs’ intelligence and my body’s wisdom.

My eggs are powerful, and I know what to do when the right time comes.
